A Cart on the Snowy Road at Honfleur 1865 or 1867 by Claude Monet

This view of Honfleur was dated 1865 by Monet, when the painting entered the Louvre in 1911. This painting shows how Monet was integrating what he had learnt from Japanese art into his intensive observation of a specific scene.

Monet made use of prints depicting snow scenes to help him represent the luminous brilliance of a snow-covered landscape.
