Untitled by American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat

Untitled is a painting created by American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat in 1982. Growing up in Brooklyn, Basquiat was a black man of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent who grew up in the racially divided United States of the 1960s and 1970s.

His incendiary career and rise to fame during the 1980s was unprecedented in the world of art. He painted Untitled at a critical juncture in his meteoric career.
