Mont Sainte Victoire by Paul Cezanne

During the 1890s, Paul Cezanne spent most of his time in Aix, though making frequent journeys to Paris. When was engross in painting landscape around Aix, Mont Sainte Victoire became one of his favorite.

Paul Cezanne is known to have painted the mountain over 60 times. He fascinated by the rigged architectural forms in the mountains of Provence and painted the same scene from many different angels.

He is considered one of the major artists of the postimpressionist movement. His landscapes and still life were influential on the development of cubism and fauvism in the early twentieth century.

The picture is named after one of its element: Bathers, But they’re not really bathers. They are women, and there is water but whatever they’re doing, they aren’t obviously swimming or washing.

It is the best paintings produced during the last decade of Cezanne’s life.

He was borne at Aix-en-Provence, Cezanne is one of the most famous french artists and is known as a ‘post impressionist’ which was similar in some ways to impression but also broke away from some of it limitations.
