It was painted by Vincent Van Gough in 1889. Oil painted on canvas, 81.2 x 65.3 cm.

The postman was his friend that he is a “good soul and so wise and so full of feeling and so trustful” .

Van Gough did several versions of Roulin the postman, including a number of paintings and drawings.
